About the project

Student Investor Challenge was the UK’s premier investment game for students attracting over 30,000 entrants a year. Refined Practice’s partners ran the online phase of the challenge from 2003 until it was closed in 2020. The website demonstrated deep integration with third party information providers and involves the management of vast amounts of data in real time to ensure an exciting game that is a great learning experience for everyone involved.

As well as designing and hosting the website itself, we also helped to devise the gameplay and provide content for the site and for fortnightly email newsletters sent out to subscribers.

Goodbye Student Investor, hello SI:REDUX

Refined Practice’s partners ran the online phase of the Student Investor Challenge from 2003 until it closed in 2020. We were devastated when we heard that is was not going ahead in 2020/21 as we know that thousands of teachers in the UK and across the world use the challenge in their business studies, maths and economics lessons. Given the difficult times we are currently living through mean that access to flexible learning resources is more important than ever we decided that we couldn’t leave you all in the lurch so we’ve launched SI:REDUX to fill the gap.
